Our range of interchangeable clasps can be paired with any number of different necklaces from pearl through rubber to create a look that's individual to you. Each clasp can be removed entirely and swapped for another creating endless combinations of statement necklace. They can also be worn in series by way of a special adaptor. Worn to the front the clasp is both the closure and the feature of each unique necklace.
With the exception of our steel and Murano glass clasps our interchangeable clasps are largely unique and are created by hand in our Dublin workshop. As a result when clasps sell they cannot be recreated, however, we are always on the look out for new rough material from which to make our next clasp so if you don’t see what you’re looking for feel free to drop us a line and we might just have some rough material waiting in the eaves!
Keshi or baroque pearls are all uniquely shaped and are a favourite here at Clasped. This natural coloured pearl makes a subtle change from the white baroque pearls we know and love with its fresh peachy tone and beautiful lustre.

Handmade howlite nugget clasp measuring approximately 29mm across with steel interchangeable mechanisms. This is a large turquoise blue nugget with pronounced black inclusions throughout. It pairs well with blacks, creams, browns and purples to name a few.

Handmade blue agate ball clasp measuring approximately 16mm round and fitted with steel interchangeable mechanism. This zingy blue clasp goes particularly well with blacks, creams and greys and is pictured here with our steel mesh necklace.
At 16mm it suits our finer necklaces creating as it does contrasting scale. However, it will still look attractive on beads up to and including 16mm round.

A small gold plated steel cylinder clasp measuring 16mm long by 12mm in diameter this clasp is suited to our finer beaded necklaces and pearl strands ranging from 8mm to a maximum of 12mm in diameter. This is an elegant and contemporary piece and it is often a first choice to finish newly restrung pearls, straddling as it does the contemporary and classic.
Pictured with 8.5 to 9.5mm round silver grey pearls we love the warmth the gold brings to the pearls creating an almost bimetal appearance.

Interchangeable lapis lazuli nugget clasp measuring approximately 19mm in length by 17mm at its widest with steel mechanism. The larger of two lapis nugget clasps currently available, this rough navy blue clasp pairs beautifully with amazonite, picasso jasper and howlite amongst others.

A hammered textured clear quartz clasp with steel mechanisms. This icy cool clasp is beautiful against black and contrasts well with bright colourful necklaces. Measuring 17 to 20mm it will suit bead strands of 10 to 18mm.

Handmade dyed turquoise magnesite ball clasp measuring approximately 20mm round with steel interchangeable mechanisms. An opaque greeny-blue sphere with fine black inclusions, this clasp is particularly versatile sitting equally well with classic pearls or a contemporary rubber necklace.

A bright golden Murano glass ball clasp measuring 20mm in diameter with gold plated steel mechanisms . This is a lovely alternative to our gold plated steel clasps with the gold foil bringing texture within the smooth glass sphere.

Interchangeable rhodochrosite ovoid barrel clasp measuring approximately 19mm in length by 16mm at its widest. It has a strong pink colour with pale pink banding across the centre and is fitted with steel mechanisms.

14mm interchangeable steel ball clasp. This directional matt finished steel sphere can be worn to the back as a discrete closure on pearls or as a feature with any of our steel mesh or wire multistrand necklaces. It’s compact size means that it is a good choice for bead strands up to 14mm and it lends itself to being worn in series with another larger clasp by way of a steel adaptor. It is also available in 16mm and 20mm.

Currently our largest clasp measuring 79mm long by 30mm wide by 15mm deep with steel fittings, this enormous rough kunzite clasp tapers gently from top to bottom and is flat at the back allowing it to sit comfortably against the body. It is handmade in our Windy Arbour studio.

This clasp with its vivid blue green colour can’t but feel summery and it lifts the more neutral necklaces. At 22mm round this silver Murano glass clasp is at the larger end of our spherical clasps. It suits every shade of necklace and is particularly suited to our beaded multistrands and larger bead necklaces, as well as being a perfect focal point in our rubber, leather and steel necklaces. It’s the perfect clasp to make a statement.

A large rough yellow beryl clasp measuring approximately 28mm wide, 25mm high and 17mm deep with steel mechanism. Belonging to the same family as emerald and aquamarine this is a fine sample of this less familiar beryl. It is flat to the rear with a crystalline shape and deceptively comfortable to wear.
This clasp looks particularly well when combined with our lemon quartz triangular barrel or gold plated steel multistrand necklaces.

A small golden pyrite clasp with steel mechanisms. This compact clasp is a perfect foil to classic pearls and looks great on bead strands of 8mm round or more. It is very angular and interesting to the front, but smoother to the reverse for comfortable wear.
It is pictured here with our 8mm amethyst bead strand but it would also look very cool with cream pearls or indeed on a steel wire multistrand amongst other things.
One of a small number of top drilled clasps which sits centred on the necklace. With pyrite inclusions adding sparkle and interest, this slate pyrite clasp measures approximately 20×32x7mm and features steel interchangeable mechanisms. This handmade clasp features three curved sides measuring 20x21mm and a further two triangular faces measuring 14mm. It is attractively angular and sits flat against the skin with an angle pointing outward. It suits anything from 8 to 12mm bead and pearl strands and is particularly attractive when paired with cream pearls (pictured). This clasp displays malachite’s typical graded green banding both on its flat surface and to the top. This handmade clasp is fitted with steel interchangeable mechanisms and boasts a deep blue colour with horizontal pyrite banding. Handmade in our Windy Arbour studio this extra large rhodium plated silver cylinder clasp measures approximately 26mm long by 21mm in diameter. It is finished with a clean directional matte scratching which catches the light in wear and is one of the largest metal clasps we make. It suits bead strands of 14mm to 20mm in diameter as well as our beaded multistrand necklaces. It also pairs beautifully with any of our wire, leather and rubber necklets.
This piece is made to order so please allow three weeks for dispatch.
Gold plated silver barrel shaped clasp measuring approximately 20mm long by 13mm in diameter. This clasp has a heavy scratched finish moving horizontally and tapers in the middle.
Gold is a perrennial favourite and this narrow clasps lends a touch of elegance to any of our smaller necklets. Pictured here with a 10.5mm round amazonite bead necklace it overhangs just a little on either side giving that contrast in scale that works so well. It would be equally suited to any of our pearl or 8-12mm bead strands.

A large quartz clasp with black tourmaline rutiles and highly polished surfaces finished with steel mechanisms. This clasp has great impact as a stand alone piece on our steel multistrand or black rubber necklaces. It is asymmetrical so it looks best centred as pictured with this black wire multistrand.
